Almkopfbahn in Bichlbach & Sonnalmbahn in Berwang
If you spend your hiking holiday in Austria with the Bergbahnen Berwang, you have already conquered the first metres in altitude, as your holiday resort is located at 1,342 metres above sea level. You can easily cover further metres in altitude with the Berwang cable cars. In summer you can take the Almkopfbahn cable car in Bichlbach or the Sonnalmbahn cable car in Berwang.
This saves you an energy-sapping ascent or a strenuous descent at the end of a mountain hike. Most hikes in Berwang-Bichlbach (Tiroler Zugspitz Arena) can be undertaken from April to October, only the higher mountain trails have limited access in spring and autumn.

Tips for your hiking holiday
Tip 1: Take the mountain railway to viewpoints
You can reach many of the most beautiful viewpoints around Berwang-Bichlbach with the Berwang cable cars (Almkopfbahn in Bichlbach and Sonnalmbahn in Berwang). The following tickets are valid in summer: Top Snow Card, Tirol Regio Card, Königscard and of course the Z-Ticket. Single tickets are available at the valley stations.
Tip 2: Leisurely walks in the Berwang valley
Just take it a little easier, for example with a hike on the Berwanger Talweg or the Wiesenweg to the Rinnen district.
Tip 3: Choose circular hiking trails
You are independent of transport on the easy circular hiking trails in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. For example, hike on the cheap circular trail to the Hochalm or discover the Brentrunde.
Tip 4: Change direction
Many hiking trails are accessible in both directions. A change of perspective often leads to completely new views and discoveries.
