Winter and ski holidays with children

Family skiing area: Skiarena Berwang

Ski holidays with children

Families are well covered in the Berwang-Bichlbach ski area. Everything you need for skiing with children is available in the region: child-friendly slopes, a free magic carpet for children to learn to ski, family-friendly ski pass prices and ski schools that already offer ski courses for children from the age of three. You will also find family-friendly accommodation and restaurants in the region.

Here you will find an overview of the family-friendly and snow-guaranteed ski area in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena.

Family Ski Area Berwang-Bichlbach

Family-friendly ski area with magic carpet

Taking the lift for your first attempts on skis can be quite challenging. But not in the Berwang ski arena: because with the free magic carpet for young and not so young skiers at the Talstation Thanellerkarlift  station in Berwang, skiing is fun right from the start! This will make you save money but also strength and energy. Especially children and all other beginners can fully concentrate on learning the winter sport.

Child-friendly ski slopes & safe ski lifts

After your first attempts on the magic carpet, there are numerous child-safe lifts at your disposal, such as the Thanellerbahn with its conveyor belt, which makes it especially easy for small children to get onto the chairlift. Especially our blue slopes are very popular with families. And those who already feel more confident will have fun on the red or even the black slopes. You can find an overview in our interactive piste map.

Ski course for children and adults: Ski school Berwang and Bichlbach

Everyone comes into their own at the ski schools in Berwang and Bichlbach: timid beginners, real experts, proven snow sports experts and ambitious racers! Here, no piste flea is too small and no ambitious skier too old, as ski courses are offered for children as young as three years old and also for seniors up to 99 years old. You are in good hands with the trained snow sports instructors, the Berwang ski school even carries the "Quality Award" of the Tyrolean Ski Instructors Association and is therefore one of the best ski schools in the country. You have the possibility to choose between group lessons and private lessons.

Children's ski school from 3 years

In the children's ski school, your offspring aged 3-15 will be lovingly and competently looked after. Lessons take place daily, from Sunday to Friday.
  • Children who are only three years old are looked after in Bambini groups with a maximum of three children per group. They are introduced to skiing in a playful way for 1 ¼ hours - with the active help of mascot penguin BOBO.
  • Children aged 4 and 5 are taught for 2 hours a day.
  • Children and young people aged 5-15 can choose between half-day and full-day lessons (2 or 4 hours).
  • Conveyor belts and beginners' lifts are located at all assembly points and are used as part of the lessons.

Our tips for the winter and the skiing holiday with children

Due to the efforts, the fresh air and the high altitude, children in particular get tired quickly and consume more energy.
  • Drink, eat and take breaks: Make sure your child drinks plenty of fluids before and during a ski day, eats something during breaks and has enough time to rest.
  • Sun protection: Don't forget ski goggles that repel wind, sun and snow, as well as adequate sun protection for the skin.
  • Protective equipment: A helmet that protects the head and ideally a back protector that protects the spine should be worn by all children for safety reasons.

Ski pass prices: Family rates

The Berwang ski arena is particularly family-friendly. Parents and children ski and snowboard around the Zugspitze for a special rate throughout the season:

With the snowman card, children born in 2017 and younger ski for free when accompanied by a parent, and with our family cards, families not only ski cheaper, but young people born in 2004 and younger only ever pay the children's rate.

Here you will find the latest information about the ski pass and its prices

Ski pass ticket offices

You will find ticket offices at the valley stations of the Almkopfbahn, Sonnalmbahn, Sonnbichllift, Thanellerbahn and at the B-Active Center.

Berwang toboggan run

A toboggan run in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena is always a real fun experience, no matter what age you are. The toboggan run in Berwang is open from the beginning of the season until the beginning of April, depending on snow conditions, daily from 8:30 am to 4:20 pm. You can reach the starting point of the toboggan run comfortably within a 30-minute walk on the winter hiking trail from Berwang to the Jägerhaus.

The Egghof Sun Jet is of course faster - with or without a toboggan. The use of the toboggan run is free of charge, the ascent with the 6-seater chairlift Egghof Sun Jet is included in the valid ski tickets. You are also welcome to use the mountain railway without a ski ticket, simply pay for one, three, five or ten mountain rides. So nothing stands in the way of your tobogganing pleasure.

Night tobogganing

A great highlight of your winter holiday in Berwang is night tobogganing: Every Thursday (December 28th until March 7th) from 5.30-8.45 pm, you can whizz down the valley on the illuminated natural toboggan run in Berwang! The sports shops, restaurants and après-ski bars are open.

Please only use the toboggan run for tobogganing, as tobogganing on the ski slopes is dangerous and therefore not allowed.

Toboggan hill in Berwang

For the little ones there is a specially prepared Toboggan hill in Berwang where things are a little less racy.
